ManxOS Magazine
A self-paced journey from Windows habits to ManxOS confidence — local, offline, and guided by Evie
ManxOS Magazine is a self-paced learning path in the spirit of classic hands-on computing magazines. It takes the skills you already have from Windows and reframes them for ManxOS — step by step, with real projects and a genuine sense of achievement.
There are 24 issues. Each issue has twelve sections, including worked examples and a hands-on project. Issues build on each other so your confidence grows with every one you complete.
How it works
You do not need an account on this website, and manxos.org is not a storefront.
- Open Evie — the local ManxOS AI assistant on your desktop.
- Choose an issue — Evie shows what is free, installed, or available to buy.
- Buy on Tide — for paid issues, Evie opens the Tide Bank shop page for that issue. You pay there and download the issue package (a
.debfile). - Install with Evie — Evie finds the package (for example in Downloads) and installs it with a normal system password prompt.
- Learn offline — content lives on your machine: articles for Evie to answer from, skills she can use, and later a printable PDF per issue.
Issue 001 is intended to ship free with ManxOS, so Evie can introduce herself and the magazine before you buy anything else.
What you get per issue
- Structured lessons that map Windows ideas to ManxOS tools (Plasma, Dolphin, LibreOffice, Firefox, Discover, and more)
- Worked examples you can follow exactly
- A project with clear success criteria
- Prompts to ask Evie about that issue’s topics
- Content installed locally for offline reading and help
Purchases are per issue via Tide. There is no login wall and no shopping cart on manxos.org.
Why this model?
ManxOS values privacy and local control. Magazine content is delivered as ordinary system packages that Evie can install safely — not locked behind a website account. Evie becomes both your guide and the place your library lives.
