Contributing
How to contribute code, docs, testing, and community work to ManxOS.
Thank you for helping build sovereign Linux for the Isle of Man.
Ways to contribute
- Code & packaging — live-build config, hooks, scripts, CI
- Documentation — install guides, hardware notes, website content
- Testing — run alpha ISOs on real hardware; file clear bug reports
- Design — branding polish, screenshots, accessibility feedback
- Community — workshops, mirrors, education outreach
Repository
A public source repository is coming soon. When it is published, clone and build instructions will appear here.
Until then you can still help with documentation feedback, hardware testing notes, design ideas, and community outreach — see the ways to contribute above and Support the project.
Contribution workflow
When the public repository goes live:
- Open or comment on an issue before large changes.
- Work on a feature branch.
- Keep commits focused; follow existing style in hooks and docs.
- Submit a merge request with a short summary of what and why.
Website
The public site is a Hugo project under website/. See website/README.md for local preview with Tailwind.
Code of conduct
Be respectful and constructive. We welcome newcomers and prioritise a safe environment for students and community members.
Funding contributors
If you cannot contribute time, supporter packages help sustain development (payments coming online after this draft).
